Work for your farm
We use an 8-step approach to help farmers navigate available funding opportunities with confidence, taking into account the dynamic of the whole farm and the strategic direction of the business:
Step 1: Assess current practices – what assets have you got on-farm and what are you doing already?
Step 2: Confirm strategic direction of the farm business
Step 3: Gather and analyse data – do you have the data or insight available to understand how your farm business is currently performing?
Step 4: Evaluate funding compatibility – will you need to change practices from what you are doing currently or invest in new equipment, for example?
Step 5: Understand commitments – before you sign up to new funding streams have you understood the obligations and impact on your business?
Step 6: Analyse financial impact – consider the cost and potential tax implications of these funding streams
Step 7: Ensure compliance – does the funding help you comply with legislation?
Step 8: Identify support networks – whether using Frontier advisors or your local network, make sure you have the support needed to deliver the requirements of the funding.

Grants and funding opportunities through Government schemes are available across the UK. These provide financial reward for sustainable farming practices, environmental land management and actions that improve overall farm productivity, as well as support for purchasing equipment and infrastructure. Examples of public funding include the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) and Countryside Stewardship (CS) schemes in England, the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme (AECS) in Scotland and the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) in Wales – although there are many Government schemes available across the UK.
All information we share on public and private funding schemes is correct at the time of publishing, but please speak to a Frontier advisor for the latest opportunities and advice.

Alongside public funding schemes, growers can also access private funding opportunities to support farm sustainability and profitability.
As food manufacturers and grain consumers seek to enhance the sustainability credentials of their own supply chains, privately funded programmes are increasingly entering the market.
From supply chain partnership programmes, cross-sector landscape recovery initiatives such as Landscape Enterprise Networks, and water company partnerships, there are a wealth of funding options for growers to consider.
We have a range of contracts that reward growers for positive environmental actions, such as our sustainable supply chain programmes in wheat and oilseed rape. These help growers to increase their earning potential and enhance their farm's natural capital.
