A summary of all funding programmes for farmers is available from the Government website.

England fundingThe Sustainable Farming Incentive

The Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) is now available in England.

The programme is part of the Government's future for farming and Environmental Land Management scheme and has been through several iterations over recent years following pilot projects and expansions to actions after feedback from participants.

Applications are now open for SFI 2024. The latest information for the expanded offer can be found here

For those part of the existing 2023 scheme, the original handbook outlines the actions and requirements while a list of amendments following the November 2024 update can be found here.

How can we help?

Our 8-step approach to funding can be a useful way to consider the actions best suited to your farm depending on your objectives.

While it can be tempting to opt for the actions with the highest payments, they are not always appropriate for every farm. It's important to consider the wider implications on rotational planning and food production, including broader agronomic considerations.

When it comes to proceeding, our experts can support you with your agreement through from initial application and management plans through to species selection and ongoing management to help you deliver the intended outcomes and meet scheme compliance.

VIDEO: Helping you balance environmental actions and farming

balancingIn this series of videos, sustainable farming advisor, Jim Egan, shares advice on the importance of planning to make sure any environmental actions incorporated on farm are done so for the right reasons, in the right place, to deliver the right benefits.

Jim looks at some of the individual options many are starting to implement on farm, and how getting access to the right technical advice can help you ensure they deliver for the long-term.

Oilseed rape de-risking partnership

Oilseed rapeDemand for oilseed rape remains strong, but its success is dependent on good establishment - something which can be difficult with increasing incidents of challenging weather and threats like cabbage stem flea beetle.

At Frontier we recognise this, as well as the potential financial burdens that often fall to growers as a result.

We also understand that strong, viable, resilient UK farm businesses are critical for long-term, sustainable supply chains.

This is why we take on the financial risks often associated with growing oilseed rape.
It means our growers don't have to.

How it works

This exclusive risk management offer ensures growers who fulfil the requirements only pay for oilseed rape seed that survives through the initial three-month establishment window.

Under the scheme, Frontier will:

✓ Remove the upfront cost of oilseed rape and accompanying companion crop seed

✓ Waive the oilseed rape seed cost for any hectares that fail to establish by 31st October 2024

✓ Set the payment date for companion crop seed and oilseed rape seed which successfully establishes to 12 months following delivery

✓ Provide a range of industry-leading hybrid varieties to choose from

✓ Offer flexibility in how to market and price the product.

Benefits

Contracted growers only pay for the oilseed rape seed that survives, removing the financial burden associated with any failed crops. Benefits include:

✓ An upfront cost saving of approx. 90/ha on oilseed rape seed, plus £33/ha on the associated companion crop seed

✓ Eligibility for £55/ha from the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) for sowing the companion crop seed

✓ Expert advice on agronomy, SFI decisions and choice of companion crop

✓ A non-defaultable produce-of-area grain contract and flexible marketing options

✓ The chance to upgrade into a private funding/premiums scheme that rewards sustainable farming practices.
