Frontier is Sainsbury's 'Crop Supplier of the Year'
22nd November 2019
Sainsbury’s recently held their annual Farming Conference for 500 delegates from the retailer’s agricultural supply chain. During the event Frontier Agriculture was named as Sainsbury’s joint Crop Supplier of the Year.
Sainsbury’s Agriculture team present just one award to each sector at the annual conference: Crops, Livestock and Fish. This year Frontier Agriculture and Nelstrop’s flour millers were joint recipients of the Crops award in recognition of the wheat supplied by Frontier and their farmer customers and milled by Nelstrop’s for Sainsbury’s in-store bakeries.
Harriette Roberts, Crop Quality Manager for Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd, and part of the judging panel said “Both Frontier and Nelstrop’s have embraced new ways of working in the milling wheat supply chain. They have enabled the full supply chain to utilise wheat quality data to drive improved final product quality and helped build understanding of the importance of raw materials. It is important for Sainsbury’s to have transparency and strong working relationships through our full supply chains, so we understand each other’s challenges and can identify opportunities. Frontier has been instrumental in enabling us to drive this forward.”
Accepting the award for Frontier Simon Christensen said: “Increasingly consumers want to know the provenance and sustainability of the food they buy. We’re really pleased to receive this recognition from Sainsbury’s because we are proud of the collaborative work we do to provide our customers with solutions and add value across the supply chain.
