Frontier is donating £5k to charity to mark Mental Health Awareness Week
18th May 2020
Frontier Agriculture is donating £5,000 to mental health and agricultural charities during this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week #MHAW20. The donation is being made on behalf of Frontier staff, whose usual #MHAW fundraising abilities are restricted due to the current social distancing guidelines.
The money donated will be split between BEAT, Mind, Anxiety UK, Sane, Addington Fund, Farming Community Network, R.A.B.I and R.S.A.B.I.
Ordinarily, Frontier colleagues celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week with outstanding commitment and enthusiasm, engaging in activities at both a national and local level to raise money for our chosen charities. Previous activities have included company-wide quizzes, staff car washes, raffles and office dress down days. Last year, staff fundraising efforts resulted in a total of £5,540.65 being raised; almost £5 for every person who works in the company.
The company is taking a different approach in 2020, hosting a virtual all-staff prize draw and, in line with this year’s theme of ‘kindness’, encouraging staff to share random acts of kindness with one another.
Group Finance Director, Diana MacDuff, explained “Mental Health Awareness Week has particular meaning this year, as many people are finding that the current Covid-19 situation is bringing mental health challenges closer to home.
“Our chosen charities do really important work in supporting people from the agricultural community and more widely with mental health challenges. We are keen to ensure that these charities continue to receive financial support at a time when many of their normal sources of fundraising are unavailable.”
Frontier’s work during MHAW20 is part of its work under The Responsible Choice (TRC) to promote and encourage good mental health awareness and practices, particularly among those working within agriculture.
