Frontier Agriculture is once again supporting UK agriculture’s annual open day, Open Farm Sunday, in the role of principal sponsor.
Organised by LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming), Open Farm Sunday also aims to highlight how farming supports the environment, with farmers increasingly incorporating sustainable farming practices into their ways of working.
Mark Aitchison, managing director for Frontier says: “Many of our customers and staff organise or help at Open Farm Sunday events across the UK. This gives them an opportunity to demonstrate to the public the level of skill and expertise that exists in our industry. We’re proud to support what they are doing through our ongoing sponsorship of Open Farm Sunday. As well as providing this financial backing, we’re looking forward to rolling our sleeves up again to help deliver a successful day of events.”
Open Farm Sunday manager, Annabel Shackleton talks about the impact attending an Open Farm Sunday event can have on people in the local community: “The magic happens when visitors talk with farmers and see farming first-hand. The conversations have a lasting positive impact helping people to value the work farmers do, the food they eat and to make more informed food choices. For some, it also inspires them to consider a career in farming.”
Frontier’s involvement with Open Farm Sunday is part of its wider commitment to promote agriculture and engage with local communities under the ‘People’ pillar of its sustainability approach, ‘The Responsible Choice’.
Alongside Frontier, this year’s sponsors include: Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), Arla Foods, Asda, BASF, Co-op, Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Farmers Weekly, John Deere, LEAF Marque, Marks & Spencer, McDonald's, National Farmers Union (NFU), Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose.
