Frontier has announced that it has acquired TAP (The Agronomy Partnership), a specialist agronomy business based in Kent.
Frontier, which already has 95 agronomists, has demonstrated a strong desire to grow its crop protection and agronomy business over the last two years. The company sees Kent as an area with great potential for the growth of agronomy services.
TAP will continue to operate from their offices and crop protection store at Wrotham. The business will remain an independently managed division of Frontier, led by Martin Dear and Charlie Oakes.
Martin Dear, Director of TAP, confirmed this decision was made to secure funding for future growth and technology investment for customers, "The industry is consolidating every year and we need to ensure we have access to the best products, technology innovation and crop trials research to keep our farmers at the forefront of developments. Frontier is a long term investor and with this move we can ensure TAP thrives and continues to grow far into the future. I see this as a great opportunity to bring a very professional new player into the Kent market, which will undoubtedly deliver benefits to Kent farmers."
Charlie Oakes, Director of TAP, added that it would be business as usual at the company, "We will keep the TAP brand name in Kent and continue to operate independently but with the wider resources of Frontier providing us with the means to grow and maintain our position at the cutting edge of providing technical advice for farmers."
Speaking about the announcement Mark Aitchison, Managing Director of Frontier was optimistic about the future. "This news certainly creates an opportunity for us to develop further resource and capability on the back of this strategic acquisition. We very much respect the existing management and culture of TAP's business. There is a great deal we can learn from each other and by joining Frontier, the future for TAP and its customers is bright, secure and certain."
